 The Forsythia bloom did not know it was supposed to let go sometime last spring. It hung on or stayed hidden and appeared in late fall in the company of wind, cold and snowflakes.
 Very little escapes those ears, including the sound of my crunching feet on a layer of ice and snow.
Thankful for a warm coat (even before winter starts), thankful for food to eat (under the blanket of white), thankful for large ears to hear someone approaching. Thankful.  The last of the fall apples cling to the tree branches while rays of sunshine cut through the chilly morning air.
 High in the branches a Cooper's Hawk surveys the fields and tree lines.
 The first snow of the season came as an early surprise, covering the fall like powdered sugar.
 The last colors of fall brighten this bog on a sunny afternoon.
 As the leaves fall in the northern woods the Birch tree sheds some bark to the chilling cold of the changing season.
 This American Toad appeared from under the leaves on a warm, fall afternoon.
 The season changes,
