Sour cherries are a real treat at the end of spring. Birds of many species and deer consume them in great numbers. People pick them for pies and other desserts. A spring frost can destroy sour cherry blossoms with one good cold snap, leaving the birds, deer and people to await the possibility of sour cherries next year.
