Earth Day is more than just one day.
 The first spring storm rolls in with a fury like ocean waves crashing onto the shore.
 The first butterfly of the season makes an appearance. A tiny Spring Azure stops in the mud just long enough to pose for a photograph.
 A spring sunrise points to converging weather patterns. Rain is on the way.
 On the first day of April, the Spring Peepers are talking while the Daffodils are rising.
 On the first weekend of spring, the honeybee emerges from her hive in search of nectar and pollen. Despite the drab brown that is everywhere the bee manages to locate a tiny crocus blossom in the leaf litter. Everything is waking up.
 The appearance of this Virginia Opossum is an indicator of spring.
 On the last weekend of winter, a sign of spring surfaces from under the leaf litter.
Despite the cold and forecast for coming snow, a crocus appears in the roadside bed.  As winter wanes, and temperatures rise, honeybees emerge from their hive in search of pollen and nectar. Without flowers or trees, honeybees will make do with pollen found in seed mixes at bird feeders. Once spring arrives look for honeybees on flowers such as Crocus, Dandelions, Coltsfoot and Snowdrops as well as on some trees such as blossoming fruit trees and Pussy Willows.
 This female and male Hooded Merganser won't have to wait too much longer for spring.
